it's me! Abby!
An expert in play, I make digital stuff fun and fun stuff digital.
I am an expert in playful learning and UX for kids. My lifelong quest is to play every day, which has guided the twists and turns of my career. I am currently Senior Director of Product and User Experience at Hooked on Phonics, where I lead the organization to modernize its processes and innovate its product offerings to help kids and families unlock the power of literacy in as playful and effective a way as possible.
Before finding my place in product management, I was an elementary school teacher, a non-profit professional, and a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa. During graduate school, I interned at Sesame Workshop, Tiggly, and Tinybop, after which I snuck my way into my dream job leading product on Toca TV, a new video product for Toca Boca. I spent a year building ESPN+, a subscription video streaming platform on the ESPN app, with 20 million monthly active users, and then spent three years reimagining the strategy and kid experience in the digital learning apps at HOMER. I have been an adjunct professor since January 2021, teaching graduate courses on Professional Applications of Ed Tech and User Experience Design at NYU , where I earned my Master’s degree in Digital Media Design for Learning.
I am also a proud holder of an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Business Administration, both from the University of Illinois. I live in Brooklyn with my lovely boyfriend and far too many kids' toys.
